Active Schools Flag
Ardscoil Phadraig was the first secondary school in County Longford to be awarded an Active Schools Flag based on the provision of sport and physical activity in the school. We are currently in the process of applying for our second Active School Flag. We aim to promote an involvement in sport and physical activity through extra-curricular activities, a broad and balanced PE programme, JCPE short course, Active School Week, lunchtime leagues and a range of other activities. Our Active Schools Committee is comprised of both students and staff who work together in the promotion of physical activity throughout our school community.
Sport is an integral part of student life in Ardscoil Phádraig with students currently partaking in GAA, soccer, basketball, athletics and pitch and putt as part of our extensive extra-curricular sports program. Students have enjoyed a range of successes in both individual and team events at provincial and national level in recent years. Our GAA, soccer and basketball teams have consistently competed in regional finals in recent years while we have enjoyed national success in athletics, Futsal and Pitch and Putt. We encourage all students to become involved in the many sporting activities which take place in the school and we look forward to increasing participation levels in these sports and activities over the coming months and years.
